THATCHWORKS
This is a large model of a typical canal narrowboat built as a cargo carrier (most survivors were more recently converted to cater for leisure use, with extended cabins occupying the cargo space).
The G-scale kit (shown assembled above) contains the following major parts:Bow section, stern section, 2x centre hull sections and cabin.
Ancillary parts include stove chimney, supports for a tarpaulin cover, mooring posts, in fact the kit contains everything in the above photos, apart from the coal load, glue, paint and transfers. The length can be increased by adding a central hull section.
The 16mm scale kit consists of bow section, stern section, 3x centre hull sections and cabin. Below is a highly decorated version built by Mark Thatcher for a review in “Garden Rail” magazine (with much added custom detail NOT included in the kit).
